Kate Fortney was also acknowledged as increasing quality in our school with the various roles she has served in and in her current role as a SERT. She is an avid member of our Link program and Strengths-based approach to our school improvement plan. Mrs. Andrea Vlasveld was acknowledged for the Organizational improvement she brings to our operations day in and day out. She is one of four secretaries in our front office, who personify the welcoming and supportive culture we ALL work hard to build at BM.

We are grateful for the good service of these three Celtic Allstars, which is in essence, a reflection of the larger Blue Community at BM! A heartfelt thanks also goes out to Mrs. Davidson-Pilon for her involvement in the night's liturgy celebration and leadership of Celtic students who read with great poise and charisma! To our student trustee, Kandis Dyack, who spoke at the evening and always represents Bishop Mac with class and ambassadorship!

Way to go, Celtics, on another terrific school year!!!
This was a first follow up with students after an April 8th Professional Development to all staff of the Wellington Catholic District School Board around the Ministry’s “Equity and Inclusivity” policy.

The speaker, Matt Boger came to the attention of our senior administration when they attended a program at the Museum of Tolerance in L.A. this past fall. It was a moving presentation crying out for tolerance as Matt told his story of being almost beaten to death by a Neo Nazi (Tim Zaal) as a gay youth in LA. For a brief overview of the story, google ‘Matt Boger’ and click on the 20/20 segment. His book telling the full story is called "Freaks and Revelations." It is a raw and moving novel that follows two teenagers, one a punk rock neo Nazi and the other a 13 yr. old gay teenager cast out by his parents and living on the streets. Told in alternating perspectives, the book tells a tragic yet inspirational story of two polarized teens, their violent first meeting and later their peaceful re-union. In the end, it is a story of survival and forgiveness.

Again, we know that this opportunity helped educate, inform and inspire our students who are our future secondary student leaders to live their lives as tolerant and understanding Catholic youth. They were well behaved, attentive, respectful and teachable - WAY TO GO CELTICS!
